Welcome to
The Lord of The Rings

This webpage is devoted to the analysis of the famous trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. This website is geared towards teens and young adults interested in Science Fiction, and to Tolkien fans of all ages. It serves primarily two purposes. First and foremost, it is a fan page that provides all the information anyone ever wanted (and a great deal that they didn't) about J.R.R. Tolkien and Tolkien related subjects. Secondly, in is a research vehicle for those who desperately need information on the Lord of the Rings and want a central location from which to find it- or at least a starting point that will lead them in the right direction.

To serve both of these purposes, many different types of information have been included. First there is Character Analysis. This is primarily geared towards those uninitiated into the Tolkien world, who have become lost in his intricate web of characters (especially those who only make one appearance every seventy pages). Secondly, there is Plot Analysis. This is separated into three categories: Synopsis, again for the uninitiated; Maps, for those whose love of LOTR takes a geographic turn; and finally, a History of Middle Earth, for those who live and breathe the air of the Tolkien Universe, (and have decided to learn its ancient history as well!) Thirdly, this website contains a portion devoted to the Analysis of mythology use in the Lord of the Rings, as contrasted to that used in James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Links are also provided to various sources. There is a page devoted to favorite quotes. Finally, an acknowledgements page thanks those involved in the web making process, as well as listing all sources not otherwise specified.
